Like many of his contemporaries, Ralph Spelbring became intrigued by the field of science after the successful launch of the Russian satellite Sputnik. Inspired by this historical event, he chose the field of science in his academic pursuits and earned a Bachelor of Arts in science from DePauw University in 1967. Soon after graduating, he began working as a science teacher at Corydon High School in Indiana and at LaSalle High School. In 1972, he joined Whitehall Laboratories as a chemist and remained at this institution until 1991. He continued exploring the field of science with Apex Pharmaceutical from 1993 to 1995 and then transitioned back into a teaching role as a substitute teacher for high schools in Indiana and Michigan between 1997 and 2009. In 2009, Mr. Spelbring fully retired and began reaping the benefits of a long and rewarding career devoted to field he remained passionate about throughout.
Some of Mr. Spelbring’s achievements include being the Elkhart U.S. House candidate in several Indiana districts from 1986 to 2016 and his civic duties such as serving as an Elkhart County council candidate for Democrats in 201 and 2018.
