Mr. Spelbring has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the field of chemistry
ELKHART, IN, December 4, 2019 — Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Ralph Eugene Spelbring with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Spelbring celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Now retired from a long and successful career as a chemist, Mr. Spelbring notably worked for Whitehall Laboratories between 1972 and 1991 and Apex Pharmaceutical from 1993 until 1995. Additionally, he served as a science and chemistry teacher at Corydon High School in Corydon, as well as LaSalle High School in South Bend for three years, beginning in 1968. In retirement, Mr. Spelbring has worked part-time as a substitute teacher in the Michigan and Indiana Public School Systems and, since 2011, as a commercial delivery driver.
As an author, Mr. Spelbring has written letters to the editor for several Indiana newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune, as well as for Barron’s, a weekly magazine published by Dow Jones and Company. Committed to his community, he stood as a candidate for the District C seat on the Elkhart Community Schools school board in Indiana several times between 1986 and 2016. Likewise, Mr. Spelbring sought election as the Democratic candidate in 2016 to represent the Sixth Congressional District on Indiana.
A native of Indiana, Mr. Spelbring attended college locally, graduating from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. Following this accomplishment, he has affiliated as a member of the American Chemical Society, Sigma Xi and the League of Women Voters of Elkhart County. Likewise, he is a life member, former treasurer and former vice president of the Elkhart Jaycees. Past memberships to Mr. Spelbring’s credit include the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Club of Michiana.
